Senior Wetland Scientist
TNT is seeking a Senior Wetland Scientist with 5+ years of relevant experience to join its Chantilly, Virginia office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform wetland delineations using the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and Regional Supplements (Primarily the Eastern Mountains and Piedmont (EMP) and Atlantic & Gulf Coastal Plain (AGCP)).
- Conduct forest stand delineations and tree assessments in urban settings.
- Perform Chesapeake Bay Area and threatened and endangered species studies.
- Assist in the management and monitoring of stream and wetland mitigation banks.
- Prepare technical reports and maps in CAD and write proposals.
- Conduct data analysis.
- Oversee and manage multiple projects within client’s scope, budget, schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on all project deliverables.
- Interface with local, state, and federal government agencies.
- Mentor and assist in training junior staff.
- Participate in industry organizations and aid in business development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience and management experience.
- Fundamental and working knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory regulations and processes in Virginia, Maryland, DC and West Virginia related to land development.
- Working knowledge of field techniques for wetland delineations, plant identification, soil sampling and threatened and endangered species studies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
- High level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experienced with effectively communicating with clients and agency.
- Detail oriented and well developed written/verbal communication and analytical skills.
- Desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work a mixture of office and field work, in all seasons of the year and regularly travel regionally.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) designation.
- International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist (ISA-CA) designation.
- Experience with CAD or GIS software.
Certified Arborist
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine to complex forest stand delineations and tree assessments associated with land development projects.
- Prepare technical reports and plans in CAD.
- Reviewing deliverables.
- Develop a good understanding of various County tree ordinances.
- Ability to accurately identify tree and plant species.
- Respond to client or engineer questions concerning trees and proposed developments.
- Routinely interface with local government staff.
- Responsible for managing multiple projects, including maintaining budget and schedule restraints and ensure quality standards on all project deliverables.
- Assist TNT staff with other services when needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Botany, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience.
- International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist (ISA-CA) designation.
- Experience with forest stand delineations and existing vegetation surveys.
- Excellent plant identification skills
- Experience working in Northern Virginia
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail oriented and well developed written/verbal communication and analytical skills.
- Desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work a mixture of office and field work, in all seasons of the year and regularly travel regionally.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Environmental Scientist
TNT is seeking an Environmental Scientist with 2-5 years of relevant experience for its Chantilly, Virginia office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform wetland delineations using the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and Regional Supplements (Primarily the Eastern Mountains and Piedmont (EMP) and Atlantic & Gulf Coastal Plain (AGCP)) under the supervision of mid-to-senior level staff.
- Assist in conducting forest stand delineations and tree assessments in urban settings.
- Perform Chesapeake Bay Area and threatened and endangered species studies under the supervision of mid to senior level staff.
- Assist in monitoring of stream and wetland mitigation banks.
- Prepare technical reports and maps in CAD.
- Responsible for managing multiple projects, including maintaining budget and schedule restraints and ensure quality standards on all project deliverables.
Requirements:
