Wetland & Stream Mitigation Banking

TNT staff is involved in all aspects of wetland and stream mitigation from initial feasibility studies to mitigation bank approval.  Services include initial feasibility studies, preliminary credit determination, regulatory agency coordination, prospectus preparation, wetland and stream mitigation design, bank development plan, mitigation banking instrument preparation, construction document preparation, construction coordination, onsite monitoring during construction, and post-construction monitoring.

TNT provides the full suite of wetland and stream restoration services, which include general habitat assessments, Rosgen stream evaluations and classifications, watershed studies and maps, and hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.

Mitigation Feasibility Studies and Assessments

TNT routinely conducts feasibility studies for potential wetland and stream mitigation sites.  These studies include a site reconnaissance, riparian buffer assessment, wetland/floodplain assessment, and preliminary credit determination.  The resulting documentation provides insight into each site’s mitigation potential while evaluating the cost-effectiveness of implementing a variety of mitigation techniques.

Detailed Stream Assessments and Classification

Feasibility study data are used to compile conceptual and preliminary mitigation plans which are used to evaluate each site with the various local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.  For each project, TNT conducts a pre-application site visit to discuss project feasibility with the regulatory agencies to minimize financial risk and initial capital outlay.  TNT’s staff is trained in Rosgen stream classification.

TNT’s staff is able to assimilate data produced during feasibility analyses and field assessments to produce detailed construction documents that meet local, state and federal regulations.  Our experience working with the various local, state and federal agencies enable us to obtain timely feedback and review.  TNT prides itself on balancing the goals and objectives of each mitigation project with the project’s finances.  Obtaining the most cost-effective plan to meet all party’s goals and objectives is a key component to all voluntary mitigation projects.

Wetland and Stream Mitigation Construction Monitoring

By working closely with the client and selected contractor, TNT is able to guide each project through the construction process.  Onsite monitoring during construction is critical to the success of any mitigation project, no matter how big or small.  By having a strong presence during construction, TNT ensures that each project is built to the design specifications, as well as providing support and direction to the contractor.  Further, TNT conducts post-construction monitoring in general accordance with the specific requirements of each project.  Post-construction monitoring includes, but is not limited to, wetland hydrology, vegetation and soils, streambank stabilization, vegetation sampling, water quality sampling, benthic macroinvertebrate sampling, cross sections, and longitudinal profiles.  Each monitoring report is compiled and submitted to the requisite regulatory agencies in accordance with the specific requirements of each project.
